In which it is Monday
Today I decided I was going to get some stuff DONE. I had slacked all weekend, so now was my chance to catch up.
First on the agenda: get rid of the bananas. Three overripe bananas can only mean one thing. Banana nut bread!
So, I started making it, then realized that I didn't have any whole wheat flour. Now, how am I going to make the best banana nut bread ever if I don't have any whole wheat flour? Meh. So I sucked it up, substituted regular flour, and whipped it up.

Put it in the oven. Cleaned for a few minutes, then started making the boys lunch. While I was preparing the sandwiches, I looked up to see the oven on. I thought to myself, "You have GOT to stop leaving the oven on or you're going to burn the place down." Switched it off. Continued making sandwiches, fed the boys, put them down for a nap. Timer went off, checked the bread... and realized that it wasn't done. SO I set the timer for another 10. Checked it to find that it was still the same color. Was puzzled.
... Oh. Well. Right. Oven.
Turned it back on. Kicked self. Checked it every 5 minutes to see if it was done.
I can turn the simplest tasks into a huge comedy of errors. *laughs*
At least it turned out okay. Mmm...

Music geekery
So, this spring has been a regular musicapalooza. Bands that haven't released albums in forever released them this spring. Bands who had never released an album released their first this spring. Bands that weren't even together and didn't know how to play instruments released albums! (Ok, well, I'm basing that last one off of some of the stuff I've heard on the radio, actually.)
We've been listening to Decemberunderground by AFI, and I've really enjoyed it. Was totally prepared to hate it after "Miss Murder" came out, but even that has grown on me to the point that I put the CD in specifically to hear that song. Go figure. I can see where people who like a specific type of music and enjoyed Sing the Sorrow were disappointed, because the new one is a departure... but it's a pretty cool departure, in my never humble opinion.
Also picked up 10,000 Days by Tool. I can't really give a decent review of that one because I am a total Maynard fangirl. *I* am rabidly in love with the CD and contemplating divorcing Krys in order to be legally bound to it (at least until the next CD comes out, at which time I would trade it in for the younger model, as it were), but that's normal. Happens every time Tool or APC puts something new out.
I've also managed to acquire the new Pearl Jam, new Rob Zombie, and new Red Hot Chili Peppers stuff... but I haven't really listened to it, yet. Maybe I'll do that tonight. While I'm playing the Sims2! MUAH HAHAHAHA!
The radio stations up here are... interesting. There's one that pretty much plays Tool and Metallica all day long. On one hand, Tool all day long! On the other hand... I could just listen to my CDs and then I wouldn't have to deal with the new Metallica stuff. The other one we listen to plays a bit of everything with a leaning toward the emo/indie. They really really love that "Perfect Situation" song by Weezer, which makes me want to rip my ears off and beat the lead singer to death with them. The word "obviously" does not fit there! And you're how old? Stop whining! Gaaaah!
In other music news, Krys did a music swap with this guy that he works with, and I now own just about everything that COIL has ever done, along with Snog, Skinny Puppy, Ministry, and a billion other artists. Ahhh... new music. Happy Manda! I was getting bored with the iPod.

Random things
The Garbage Phantom didn't take the bait. I suppose he either got bored or moved. Ah, well, too bad really. I had the whole drama planned out in my head, and it was going to be an amusing story. I hate it when people refuse to play my way. *pouts*
Today Toby found his (well, actually Avery's) bear mask. He wanted to put it on, so Krys helped him. I managed to get a picture of everything BUT him in the mask, until finally he defeated Krys and laughed himself silly at the victory.

I didn't actually get much done today. It's just been one of those days where everything I do gets thwarted. Went to make meatball subs, but the hoagies I'd bought 3 days ago were mouldy. Couldn't find the reciept, so I couldn't take them back. Tried to unpack boxes, but every one I went to unpack required the unpacking of a different box, so I kept opening them until I was back at the first box, with none unpacked.
Overall, it was a pretty pointless day. Ah, well. At least I get banana bread out of the deal.
